Who is this course for?

This course is designed for anyone who wants to start making music in Ableton Live from scratch and understand not only the software itself, but the complete music production process.

No previous experience is required. If you already use Ableton Live, the program can be adapted to your current level, musical style and individual goals.

Learning outcome

The goal of the course is to help you become confident working independently in Ableton Live, understand the logic behind music production and turn an initial musical idea into a finished track.

Lessons go beyond simply learning where the buttons and tools are. You apply what you learn in practice and gradually build your own music projects with guidance from your instructor.

Course program

1. Getting started with Ableton Live

Explore the interface, Browser, Session View, Arrangement View, tracks, clips, Mixer and the overall workflow used to build an Ableton Live project.

2. Rhythm and drums

Learn how to create drum patterns and work with Drum Rack, samples, kicks, snares, hi-hats, groove and different rhythmic patterns.

3. MIDI and instruments

Explore MIDI clips, note editing and virtual instruments. Create melodies, chord progressions and basslines.

4. Working with audio

Learn how to import, record and edit audio, work with samples, use Warp and explore Ableton Live's audio-processing workflow.

5. Sound design and effects

Explore the fundamentals of sound processing, filters, EQ, compression, saturation, reverb, delay and other creative effects.

6. Arrangement

Learn how to turn a musical idea or loop into a complete composition with an intro, main sections, transitions, climax and ending.

7. Automation and movement

Work with parameter automation, transitions, effects and dynamics to make your track evolve and remain engaging.

8. Mixing

Learn the fundamentals of volume balance, panning, frequency balance, EQ, compression and creating space within a mix.

9. Your own music project

Create your own track or another music project while your instructor guides you from the initial idea to a completed piece.

10. Finishing your project

Refine your project, identify and fix problem areas, prepare it for export and discuss the next steps in your development as a producer.

One-to-one lessons

Lessons are taught online in a one-to-one format. This means the program does not force every student into the same genre, pace or learning path.

You can learn Ableton Live while working with the music you actually want to create: electronic, hip-hop, trap, pop, house, techno and other genres.

Trial lesson

During the trial lesson, the instructor gets to know your current level and goals, discusses your musical interests and helps create a suitable learning plan.

Yes. No previous DAW experience is required. The first lessons can begin with the interface and the fundamental principles of music production.

Do I need a music education?

No. Your instructor can explain the necessary musical concepts as they become relevant while you work on practical music projects.

Yes. The one-to-one format allows examples, exercises and projects to be adapted to your musical interests.

Should I choose FL Studio or Ableton Live?

Both programs can be used for complete music production. During a consultation, we can discuss your goals and help determine which workflow is more suitable for you.

What will I achieve after the full course?

The full program includes 32 individual lessons over four months. The goal is to help you work independently in Ableton Live and complete your own music project.
